Olive diameter

Can anyone confirm the correct olive for the input side of the fuel pump ?

I’ve tracked down a quarter inch imperial olive but this is too tight.
Best I can tell is that the fuel line o/d is 6.25mm.

Need to get one pdq !!

Stuart.

PS: just back from the Lotus On Track weekend st Snetterton, Norfolk.
Will post a few of 150 photos of the world record attempt later.
Sadly mainly the later cars, but there were a few gems.

Stuart,

Just got some fuel line and olives from Sue Millar. Internal diameter is 6mm and external diameter at widest point is 8mm.

The internal dia of the olive should be 1/4’‘. NOT 6mm. There are a few people out there who don’t know the difference. I have had suppliers try to tell me that 6 mm ‘‘is the same as 1/4’’. Its not. Susan normally does not get it wrong but if her supplier told her ‘‘they are the same’’ then she will send you a 6mm olive to fit your 1/4’’ fuel pipe. V tight fit!!

E.G. I ordered a 6mm wide x 125mm dia tct milling tool for making the keyways (6mm square keysteel key) in Kart rear axles. After waiting a few weeks it arrived. It was the imperial equiv’. Supplier could not see a problem with this and was huffed when I did not take it.
Same guy did not know what M3 (Morse) taper is. I gave up.

Let me know if you get stuck. I should have a few somewhere.

Alex B…

To sort out a leak from the same union I just ordered 1/4" machined olives off ebay . looks like last olive used was wrong one ( for metal pipe)i.e. olive shaped , as opposed to shouldered or machined type which prevents overtightening and deformation of plastic pipe.
