As a relatively new +2 owner (3 months) this may seem a silly question…but is it correct for the steering wheel to be angled so that, ideally, my left arm should be shortened and/or my right lengthened?
It looks like it is normal from the drawings in the Owner’s manual as it looks offset there too.
Looks like that was the direct line to the rack with no UJs.
Your correct in your observation. With the wider plus 2 and the same rack as in the Elan the steering wheel location and angle had to be a bit of a compromise I think
Yes, this is correct. Although in my case in the US I need to have my right arm shortened and the left lengthened. This is just the one flex joint at the connection to the steering rack. It is a good idea to replace the flex joint (made up of rubber faucet washers) with a u-joint having 9/16-36 spline on both ends. Caterham uses these in their 7s.
Russ - my apologies - I should have known that British memories of the convict colonies stretch back to the days before Australia took the place of the US as ‘accommodation’ for the lower social echelons!
