NOS

What does “NOS” stand for .When speaking about spare parts

New Old Stock. Hopefully describing some little gem of a spare that has been hiding away for 40 years in its original grease proof wrapper.

My son saw the NOS heading and got very excited… thinking someone had Nitrous Oxide fitted!

English is not my “first” language, and when i stumple in to things like NOS/PITA/PO/ETC. I have great use for this site

Hi Tim

While an NOS steel part is truly a find, beware paying a premium for parts that are 30+ years old and may have deteriorated in the meantime.

Especially suspect is anything rubber. You are much better off buying a recent aftermarket part than an original if the passage of time alone is a factor in deterioration.
