Non standard radiator

Hi Guys,
Can anybody help me?
I am building a hill climb/fun S4 FHC. Lots spent on the right bits. TTR galore etc. However, I am wanting to limit my spend on a radiator. I have trawled eBay and looked at the dimensions of all those race alloy types. They start at about ?89 and go up to about ?150 if you are a normal non Lotus individual. I found two a present. One that will go in and one that may just. The pipes are not where I want them. I want to put it in the nose and am not concerned with originality. I had the tape in and as I recall the max width is about 620mm and height about 365mm. This is with it tipping forward, as you do.
I trawled the archive and see a few car makes mentioned for donors but when I check the dims, they all seem like they are for the Plus 2 and would not go near an Elan. It means I keep emailing and some of this guys who sell on ebay are more concerned with selection by model rather than size. Hence no dims and they won?t reply.
It does not even need to be a shiny alloy one, I would be content with one that has the plastic side tanks and ally matrix. I refuse to pay 300 - 400 pounds for one.
Anybody know a model that will fit or anybody who actually makes the small alloy ones at a reasonable price.
Call me tight, but is gets my goat when there are loads of universals on eBay at decent costs.

I am tight! Or has the wife caught up with me ???

Thanks Mike

Mike,

A possibility is the radiator fitted to the VW Polo or Golf of a mid/late 90’s flavour, if you dont mind a modern one.

I had one in my Westfield a few years ago from a 1.0 Polo and it cooled a 190hp engine fine. The golf one is a little larger but didnt fit my car.

Have a look here as this Golf one it seems to fit your requirements at about 500mm x 320mm x 34mm and is under ?40 delivered inc vat.

Should be fine with a bit of clever mounting.

Cheers,
Simon

Simon,

Thanks very much for your help. That looks just the ticket. What a good price.
I just ordered one. Look forward to mounting and sorting a fan and pipes etc
