I have been driving an Evora GT for a while now, and have loved every second in that car… so much that I started looking for a companion for it. I wanted something equally exciting, but very different, and late this summer I introduced the Evora to its new garagemate, a 1972 Elan Sprint. The Sprint has been a blast, both making it drivable (first two months spent in the garage), as well as driving it.
This forum has been immensely helpful, and I’ve been a lurker all this time, but I’m starting to run up a tally of questions as I work to get things sorted, so I figured I should probably kick it off with an intro.
Your location always reminds me of the song ‘It never rains in southern California…It never rains in southern California’. Frankie Beverly and Maze, who sadly passed away earlier this year. Fantastic band, who I had the pleasure of seeing live in about 1982.
Rob, please post a picture, and be sure to give the VIN to TRW99 (Tim Wilkes) on this forum, along
with pharriso (Phil Harrison). They are the keepers of all things Sprint.
I actually live further up north in central California, in the hills among the coastal redwoods. Lots of twisty mountain roads here. Perfect Lotus territory. By California standards (which are not high), it rains quite a bit.
Did you happen to attend the recent West Coast Lotus Meet in Clear Lake CA? Quite a contingent of Evora in attendance. We were in the Red ‘69 Plus 2. May have met? Certainly agree with the quality of the California highways in your area. Your Sprint will be a marvellous dance partner there.
