I am based in Warwickshire and have just taken on a 1975 Plus 2. The car seems to be in very good order and drives nicely. Looking forward to using it more.
I am compiling a list of stuff that I think needs sorting and for peace of mind have got it booked in with a specialist for a major service and thorough checking over but unfortunately not until May.
Early days yet but I am sure there will be loads of questions.
The umbrella style handbrake came as a massive surprise for a car of this age. Hill starts will be interesting. When mine is off the handbrake is way under dashboard and difficult to reach from usual driving position and you have to fiddle between some wiring to get hold of it. When it is applied it still seems difficult to reach. Is this normal?
Welcome to the forum Martin,As Clive said once you are used to it it will be fine. There is usually an undertray similar to the one on the passengers side that fits just above the handbrake lever ( mine seems to have been cut in half exposing the wiring and trip cable but it is fine). Regards Steve
…you have to get used to not using the handbrake and just ‘catching’ the car on the clutch on hill starts, or at least that’s always been my technique which I learned from my Caterham days.
