I have a 1970 Elan (steering column ignition key) Where can I get a spare key made? Are they standard blanks as held by high street key cutters? I’m in the UK.
Thanks for any replies
what is the key number…FS878 …?
John
Hi,
Thanks, don’t know until I get home tonight, will let you know
I’m interested in this too as mine’s a WASO with no number - and I haven’t got a spare…
Matthew
I had a set cut for my Sprint (in the UK).
The shop did not have an exact copy of the ignition key, so just cut it onto a slightly different style key.
Works OK
Clive
Just checked my key, it has a Waso plastic top, but no number. I’ll try the High Street as Clive suggested. Matthew, I’ll let you know if it works

PS Question. Why is it that onlyshoe repairers are so good at key cutting? Makes you think!
Limora is offering the FS and other key ranges - give the number and order by mail…(www/limorawhatsoever)
You may find the key number on the cylinder. (if it has not been rekeyed via the plates inside )
Anna
OK ordered the FS keys from Limora.
So how about a source of Lucas keys (for the ignition) and “L&F” keys (for the petrol cap)?
Are there no companies in the UK who keep keys??
Thanks
Bruce
I went to Timpson (the shoe repair chain) yesterday and they cut me keys for Ignition and petrol cap on the spot. The guy in Aldershot had the blanks in stock (in his “oldies but goldies” section).
Two of each key for the grand sum of ?6
All I need now are the new Wilmott Breeden keys to arrive and i will have my spare sets.
