Lotus Elan S2 located north of Montreal, Canada. Was fully running when parked 10 years ago. Has been stored in a heated, humidity controlled garage. Looking to sell to a good home, car needs some TLC and to be on the road!!! I don’t have the expertise to price this car but will work with this Forum to come to a fair price.
I would like to get some more information and photos please.
I’m on yahoo with dcoate50 at it.
Thanks, Dan
Here are some more pictures… I can pull the car out and take more / a video over the weekend. Pls respond with what pictures I should take.
Some DM Questions I have received:
Q1 Have you tried to start in the 10 years?
A1 No
Q2 Do you have the original seats / steering wheel?
A2 I thought these were original? what you see is what you get no extra parts
Q3 What would it take to get it running?
A3 I am not qualified to answer this question, there are guys on this forum that could guide you…
Q4 Are the stickers in the back covering holes?
A4 Not that I know, will verify over weekend. As per the pictures the body is in good shape. As stated this car has been stored inside a heated garage, not outside or in a barn.
Hi Michael,
I’m interested. PM sent. I’m located in New Hampshire, so not impossibly far away from the Elan S2.
Best regards,
Andy in New Hampshire
Hi Michael,
I am past owner of a Lotus S2 similar to the one you are looking to sell. Is it still available? If so what are you looking to get for it? I am located in Toronto with relatives in St Jean sur Richelieu (wife is from there) so can pop over and see the car at your convenience. Thanks
Norm
I am selling it for my father in law. He is 86, does not remember all of the details…
- bought the car in 1986
- was missing the head when he got it, imported one from the UK
- rebuilt with his kids
- drove it through the 90s
- have a fire
- insurance covered body work
- car is original, never races
- as far as we know it was never crashed
Michael
If there is anything you would like answered or photographed please let me know. If you would like to see the car I am available to show it any weekend, located near Tremblant QU.
Michael
Michael,
I would like to see the vehicle and will be in the area in early Sept. if it’s still available I would be willing to go as far as $10k CDN as is where is.
Norm
I would.have thought that car is worth twice what you people are saying. Are you taking advantage of a newbie???
As a previous owner of an Elan I know what it will take to get a 10 yr stored vehicle back into operating condition and doing it justice. If you think it’s worth more than make him an offer!
Michael,
I would like to schedule a visit to see the Lotus and was wondering what would be your availability on the following weekends in September:
Sept. 9/10 or Sept. 16/17
As stated in my previous email I am interested in buying and prepared to make a deal.
Norm
I have created a video to help show the car. There has been interest but no solid offers / visits. In my opinion this car is complete and in good condition. You could push it to a car show and be the coolest car in the lot! The motor had no issue when the car was parked. I am don’t have the knowledge and don’t want to damage it so have not tried to start it.

Let me know if you have any questions,
Michael
I’ve sent a couple PMs. Wondering if you received them.
Thanks,
Dan
Hi Michael - is the car still available?
For me, there would be no way to know what a good price for the car would be without inspecting it in person.
You can google Elans that have been sold in North America and Europe recently to get a sense of what a running car in good condition would get. I’d say from $30K on up, but would be happy to hear other’s opinions.
If it’s still available, I’d like to arrange a trip up to see it. Let me know. You can email me directly at joe dot elwell at gmail dot com.
best,
Joe
Sorry have not posted an update for a while. There is a buyer coming this weekend, will update if the car is still available on Monday.
Michael
Thanks, Michael. I guess I’ll say ‘good luck’, even tho that would mean I don’t get it
best
Joe
Hi Michael,
I watched your video, and must admit that the car looks good for one that hasn’t been run for a while. It doesn’t look like it would take a lot of work to get it running, unless there are some hidden gremlins lurking within.
If it were right had drive and located in New Zealand I would certainly be interested…
Good luck with the sale.
I thought the car was sold but unfortunate for me / fortunate for the future buyer the deal fell apart. Only additional info i have is the chassis number is 26/4470. Let me know if you have any questions would like to see the car.
Michael
