Thank you for this, some great stuff there. It seems a much simpler world back then, I am sure it wasn’t, but it does have a certain appeal.
Thanks for the great video on the Super Safety.
I must say, I have a non-super-safety Lotus Elan S3, and the last thing I worry about is being impaled by a toggle switch.
When travelling in my lotus amongst the trucks and the “Remuera Tractors” (as urban 4WD vehicles are known by in NZ), I am more worried about the lack of side intrusion protection. I think protruding toggle switches and nasty knobs would be the least of your worries in a serious collision in a plastic car.
I have attached the first and last videos in this restoration. Goes to show that even the basket cases of basket cases can be restored give time and money
Re the British pathe videos. Very interesting. How things have changed
I have this one saved in my Lotus videos also… great one
Yeah. Possibly the other part to that Motorsport one but some great slo mo four wheel drift shots, looks great fun!
Wow! Elan at its best!
He could be Italian. He talks with his hands a lot… He’s good with getting the car to rotate, great brake release. I enjoy Horatio’s videos in the 26r, but the FJr races are even better.
Lovely summary of what classic car racing involves.
This man has a 26r, a chevron B8 and Nigel Greensall as his driving coach!
Chosen for me by Youtube:
Video capture is a bit flaky in places, but credit to the chap who put this together.
Recent video of an Elan in a paint shop. Interesting considering the process is not the usual tissue base followed by polyester primer. I’m looking forward to part 2 to see the actual paint process. Is it a members car perhaps?
Mike
That is the same video as further up but they have just changed the thumbnail and name
YouTube suggets trying different thumbnails to see which one works better so that doesnt surprise me
Sorry, i need to pay attention
No problem. It took me a minute to work out that it was the same video
