Hi, this is Blotus!

Hello elan and +2 people. I bought an S1 basket project from a guy in Kansas City in early 2000s. This car had spent some time in a riverbank,no engine and not a lot of the front end was left.the body number is 3471 so I’m assuming 1963 to 1964.the car didn’t have a vin plate either. In the last 20 plus years I’ve collected parts from Ebay to put it back together.parts were a lot cheaper back then. I enjoy the fiberglass work and rebuilding the components.I just got my motor back from the machine shop and have started the rebuild. Retired last year (78) and have more time to work on it. It’s a fun hobby that keeps me challenged and also still spending money. Hope to have it running in not too far distant future. Thanks for having me in the group!

Your Elan 1600 would have left the factory around April 1964, judging by your Body No. No meaningful Elan records of Body Nos allocated to Unit Nos have survived, unfortunately.

A shame you have no other details as these early cars are now so collectable. No other crayoned on numbers or other numbers anywhere on the body?
