Hello everyone

I’m excited to join this community! I own a Lotus Elan, which I’ve been working on restoring recently. This car is very special to me because it was passed down from my uncle. The Elan has a classic British sports car charm with its sleek, lightweight design and nimble handling, making it a joy to drive.

Mechanics have been a hobby of mine for years, and I find great joy in the process of repairing and maintaining cars. Interestingly, there was a time when I was quite the gambler. My uncle, knowing this, decided to play a joke on me in a very elaborate way. He researched references on websites like this one, drew up plans, and had a custom piece made. He surprised me with a car steering wheel designed like a roulette wheel! You know what? I was so annoyed that I actually installed it! Over time, though, I’ve come to appreciate it; it adds a vintage touch to the car.

My uncle passed away some time ago, but he left behind something tangible that keeps his memory alive, at least within our family. Working on the Elan and seeing the results reminds me of him and the joy he found in a well-executed prank. I’m eager to share stories and gain insights from others who appreciate the art of restoration and the bonds we form through these unique projects.

Wood too, Elans wow!

Welcome

Description of your Elan and other cars would be neat.
Any pictures of the Elan or +2?

I am an armature Elan and wood man.

Welcome.
If you have worked on various other classics the Elan should not hold too many problems.
Looking forward to hearing more.
