Just wondering what mirrors people are using and how they’ve mounted them. My car doesn’t have any exterior mirrors right now and it would really make driving in traffic easier.
I like the shape of the Sebrings but wonder if the plastic looks cheesey. The Talbots seem like they might be too heavy (in addition to pricey).
Hi Jason,
I originally had a door mount bullet type mirror and purchased another one for the passengers side but could not see the traffic. The problem was the mirror would not adjust enough to be useful. Then I found the 50’s, 60’s style mirrors on Ebay that worked well and are large enough to actually see traffic on both sides with confidence. They attach easily with two small holes drilled and are very lite.
Moss motors has a black pair that look like my chrome ones.
I have seen them on Ebay every so often. I have seen them, offered new and I’ll try to find the supplier that offered them and post the source.
When I bought the Elan it had a Sebring door mirror on it with which I was not really comfy with as visibility is limited.
I opted to put a set of chrome classic door mirrors on it on both sides as I do tend to take the LHD car to Scotland for my holidays.
These type of mirrors are readily available from multiple outlets in the classic scene like Moss,SC parts.
Finally it is all a matter of taste what mirrors (if any) you want to use:)
Jason, They are called TEX mirrors. They have them in the moss motors catalog but I did not see them on line at Moss. Found this online classic-car-accessories.co.u … IOR_8.html Too much $$ but other sources are cheaper.

Hi Sarto. Thanks everybody for the responses. I should have thought to check the archives, too.
While they certainly don’t look as nice, I’m considering the clamp ons. I like the ease of installation and that they’ll be right up in my line of sight. This car is driven in traffic most days. (Those Mini Coopers sure look big from inside an Elan.)
Next up, replacing my passenger side window cable to get ready for winter!
I can’t remember the exact name of it now, but I think I got something called the “Autobahn Mirror”. It sticks on the inside glass, and because it is convext, you can see behind you from inside the car. they work really well and of course, don’t require any drilling of fiberglass. Think about it.
