Does somebody know or recognises the engine blocknumber GBB 306 M (it could also bee CBB 306 M), it has a cast number 681F 6015A, the engine number is just above the cast number
It has a head with number LP 2053, which hints to a MK1 head, it is stamped with a number 4264 (what seems to be a wk-yr number).
Can somebody enlighten me? Thanks in advance.
Regards DutchTony
The engine number is on the flat above the carb side motor mount. Usually contains LB, LA or LAA.
Thanks Mike, but there is no number there, even after i scrapped of the paint
LP 2053 would have been produced in Q3 1964, probably for a LoCort, since it was not fitted originally to an Elan.

Tim.
That Cortina must have been a very early prototype with one of those new-fangled steam engines in.
Sorry.!

Eric,
I expect Tim made a typo, as I believe the steam powered prototype was abandoned and no records remain.
Happy New Year
Richard Hawkins
The 681F block is from around 1968 and is probably out of a scrapped Cortina and has been mated to an early Lotus head at some stage
