I’m looking to hire (or buy - at the right price) a crane.
Ideally to lift engine and box complete, can anyone give me definite weights, minimum height of lift etc, please?
It’s a Sprint, with a 4 speed box.
Thanks and Regards,
Stuart.

If it is a +2 make sure it has enough reach. The one I got from HSS hire only just reached far enough…

I asked this question some time ago - the answer:
Stuart,
The hydraulic cranes I used never seemed to have a long enough reach, so for the last two engine outs, I use a tripod type crane. Three metal poles with a rope winch. Does the job easily - just need a bit of height - about ten feet.
I’m not saying it’s the best way, I’ve used various methods, from tree boughs and garage beams. I liked the tripod, it was cheap (?10 to buy outright) didn’t scratch the bumper and the whole operation was easily controllable. Good luck in your choice.
Thanks for the responses.
Another question:
Can anyone tell me the overall length of engine and box (when fitted together) ie from front pulley to gack of box ?
Thanks,
Stuart.
This should help for the gearbox:

You can measure the engine in situ.
Thanks Brian.
