Engine Cradle

Hi,
Can someone point me in the direction (in the UK) of an engine cradle similar to photo that will fit the Twink engine.

thanks

Not cheap!

Hi Mark,

I made this up some time ago.

The block is attached via the engine mounts. It can be rotated 360 degs, and locked in various positions by a bolt through the flange.

I use these furniture moving dollys as storage for engine and other heavy components, good if you need to move items around due to limited storage space and only about $20 at the local Bunnings ( Home Depot equivalent). If you need to you can use a ratchet strap to hold the item stable on the Dolly for a few more dollars.

cheers
Rohan

Check the Historic Formula Ford forums. The mounts are identical to the Kent FF engine and very popular.

Years ago, I happened to show my 15 year old son I was looking for a pair. The following Friday afternoon a pair showed up in our garage. He built them in his metal shop class from scrap steel and a mig welder. I still use them.

Might be worth a punt around the Caterham mob

When I built mine in the 90’s it was delivered with the 1700 cross flow on the same frame / cradle set.
They lived in my dad’s garage for years but I think he eventually threw them out.

Did the same Rohan, with an added bit of framework! Very useful.

I had this fabricated locally, based on photos of a cradle sold by a Formula Ford parts supplier. I use it for the Vegantune motor I had built for me in 1977, but replaced with a QED unit some 20 years ago. The wheels make it easy to move the TC around.

I have purchased a number of a similar product in the UK. For the price, I thought they would fall apart, but they have proved very durable.

Might be worth checking with Dermot Healey, he sells a load of competition bits and pieces have a look on the uphill racers for sale page he was offering a pair of Ford spec frames for £45 a couple of weeks back.
See if the link thing works.
