Elantrikbits Driveshafts

If I get away with that I’ll be like a pig in poop. Thanks for the encouragement.

Actually, that’s the first time I’ve ever seen a tax bill I’d be pleased with. I need to celebrate!

Having imported quite a few car and aircraft parts over the years, admittedly not from Oz but from other countries, I find it is virtually impossible to work out what the final cost will be until it actually arrives! In addition to just the Shipping charges and import taxes there are always what I call ‘mystery’ charges made…Customs handling charges, Fedex handling charges, Fedex admin charges etc , etc and they all then have Vat added on.

Someone posted on Facebook last year that their final total bill for Elantrikbits CV’s into the UK came in around £1320 …and unfortunately the world has gone a bit crazy since then so my view is that I think you will have to just wait and see…

Alan.

I’ve just ordered some for delivery to the UK so I’ll await the duty lottery and report back.

We can compare notes then - it’ll be interesting to see if they’re the same.

Can’t agree more Col’s CVDS are excellent, properly engineeered and very well made.

Well thank you RCAI, we always strive to produce the best product possible.
Ceejay.

Having purchased the Elantrikbits shafts I was very impressed with the quality of the product and think the product price is reasonable. For those of us on this side of the world its the shipping that really bumps the price up. Maybe if we were prepared to wait 7 months for it to be shipped by sea it would be cheaper.
However much your final bill comes to you’re going to have a lot of fun unpacking them. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

+1 and admire true Engineering.

I have TT universals on my sprint very strong no problem at all and reasonable price
Cheers

The Elantrikbits Driveshafts look to be very well engineered using GKN LOBRO CV joins. They are expensive and require importing. Alternatives use Chineese CVs for cheepness. I built my own with GKN LOBRO CVs but i habeva +2 so longer shafts and less likely to lock on full droop.

The good ones are still made in Germany.

It’ll be a happy moment I’m sure

I’ve had mine fitted to my Sprint for quite a number of years. Yes. Had to shorten the struts but no problems over the years. Minimal service. Driver quite a few thousand miles over the years. Would have to look through my records to find actual mileage completed.
Would recommend. I know others are available like Tony Thompson. I believe are good as well.

As promised, my Elantrikbits driveshafts are due to arrive tomorrow - a moment of great excitement I’m sure.

Largely unchanged since April then - I paid an extra £140.05 making the total landed price of £1,132.47.

I’ll be camped out by the letterbox from first light…

Like others on here I used the GKN Lobro joints when I had special shats made to fit a Hewland box in a race Ginetta G12, absolutely bullet proof

Received notice that my trikbits have arrived in the UK. Price for +2 versions ended up as £1,041 after conversion from 1,339 US dollars. Import duties etc collected by Parcel Force added £140.05, which I think is in line with what others have paid?

All the way from Australia without a hitch. Then it’s the turn of Parcelforce - not content with having a problem and not being able get to us/find us/run out of hours, they compound it by lying through their teeth about “no-one being in” and having “left a card explaining what to do next”

Clearly we and both of our security cameras missed them trying and the promised card must just have evaporated.

Sometimes I do despair. Still, tomorrow’s another day. Another 20 minutes on hold for their call centre to look forward to.

One has to wonder at how dim Royal Mail think we are, it seems they forget that many people have cameras installed and so are able to check their story telling. If by some chance the driver has stolen the items then I would love to see the look on his face when he opens the parcel, trying to work out what the parts are for.

Hope all goes well tomorrow, why is that we constantly have issues with deliveries?
Tony

I’ve had similar issues with Parcelforce. My local depot is barely one mile away. My guess is they load the van to do the local drops last i.e. on the drivers return to the depot, and then the driver runs out of hours, and returns to the depot with parcels still on board. I’ve had more problems with RM and Parcelforce than the supposed “bad boys” like Evri.
