Hello all,
Just was getting reacquainted with the project this week. It was kind of a Triage week. Only general items completed this week, with the installation of rear, parking and indicator lights.
I guess you could say I was working to Simplify and Add Light-ness…
Ordered fresh 2 AWG wire for battery to starter solenoid. Did an oil change, added fresh NGK plugs. Also need to do gearbox and diff fluids next week.
I have 5 sets of rear taillights. I cobbled together the best of the lenses, and frames for the assemblies with new seals. Polished the lenses with Plastic-X and chrome frames with Turtlewax chrome polish. Now I have 3 assemblies Left. Interestingly, they are all marked “Left”-coincidence..?
Hoping to get the carbs on this week. Need to confirm fuel flow as well. Previous owner had an electric pump at a fuel cell, feeding the mechanical fuel pump. Not sure what was going on there. Is this common? I recently removed the electric pump and fuel cell. Going back to a stock configuration. I think I sorted the original fuel sender wiring. Got some parts orders in this week to RD Ent.
If anyone has some really nice seats, I would be interested. (I have a decent set to start with but would like some newer and upscale looking seats. My set works but doesn’t lift the car’s appearance. Along those same lines, does anyone in the US, offer prepainted NEW silver bumpers?
To that end, I am continuing to wrestle what items to replace with shiny new, and what items to clean and resuse. I would like this restoration to be spectacular. I’d like all the parts to look great since this is my first “higher-end” restoration. This may be my piece de resistance- ![]()
In other news, it seems the clutch may be working! Need to confirm, but the pressure and pedal feel pretty good, and no discernible leaks. Fluid level was uncontaminated ,and looked pretty good.
No brake pressure however, I think I may have a leak at the rear wheels. Also going to look at electrics this week to see whats working and what is inop. Thanks for tuning in.
As mentioned I haven’t dug in yet, but its always fun to post the easy stuff, in any case. Photos below.
