Elan battery earth

I have the original battery earth lead (copper wire) still connected on my S4 Elan.
It’s never given any trouble but do you think I would benefit from a new lead and if so does anyone know where to source a good quality replacement?

I would say if it’s not broke don’t fix it.
If both ends are corrosion free I would leave well alone.
When I needed a new cable I found a local vehicle electrical company who made to order, I used a heaver cable than standard.

I have used Ocean Flex as it is much more flexible than other flexible cable of the same size. This stuff is also designed for the marine environment and all the individual strands are tinned. Having said that I tend to agree that if it is not giving trouble are there not other jobs that actually need doing.

I can’t remember who I bought from, but think it was Furneaux Riddall. A google search will find several suppliers.

Hope this helps,

Richard Hawkins

David, Richard many thanks for your replies. I was just replacing my ignition leads and wondered if I should change the earth too. But, I think I will leave it well alone as advised. Thanks.

For long battery runs, I use welding cable as used in arc/stick welders… Comes in various gauges and has many very fine individual conductors, meaning very flexible. I am usually able to find it in bulk form at most welding supply stores.
