Doors.

Hi,

I have just fitted the doors on my +2. They line up great/flush with the bodywork and the catches. I have also fitted new correct door/body seal. However, the doors have to be slammed to shut, and to open pressure has to be applied onto the door before door button can be pressed. I can only guess the problem is with the seals, because if the seals are removed both open and close OK.

Does anyone know if this will get better when the seal are used more or are all +2’s like this?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

David

Hi

My doors close nicely without slamming,as iv only had car 6 months i cant say if this was always such.I wouldnt think slamming is correct though,id look closely at your seals.

Ian.

David,
The seals will soften up in time.

Where did you manage to get the seals from as I have not seen the correct ones for sale for a long time?
Cheers
John

Interesting. You say the seals have not been available for a long time. What were they originally like?

Woolies (the autotrim people, not high street shop!) sell a flap type door seal which I guess will compress more easily, but may not seal as well.

I bought new from Chris Neil - not fitted yet but I am concerned that they seem rather firm.

MacGregor in Toronto have a very nice, supple product - I bought from them for the boot seal. Their sample door seal looked good. DOn’t know if / where they source theirs.
