As my S4 now has a more powerful engine and I am rebuilding the rear suspension anyway I thought I would add the extra diff brace that is fiited to the Sprints. Does anyone have any instructions on how this fits in?
Steve,
Scroll down about 1/4 of the way on this link.

Its two different pics of the brace and it’ll be self explanatory when you receive it. It basically goes across the top of the diff, and fits only one way because it also picks up one of the diff housing bolt holes. You’ll also eliminate one of the sets of washers used with the mounting bolts.

It’s worth fitting regardless of power output because it does offer a bit more support to the housing top mounting lugs which sadly do have a tendency to break off.
I agree with Greg fitting one is a doddle. You can’t really get it wrong
Thanks for the link. Now that I have had a good look at the brace it is obvious how it fits. Just ahve to finish stripping out the rear suspension. The nut holding rear dampers in are proving relectant to move
… Steve, do not fit the brace to the diff before you install it- you will find it very much more difficult to get the diff into place if the brace is mounted. It is very easy to slip it into place once the diff is sitting in the chassis. Of course it is woth doing a trial fit before it goes in, it is really just a bit of “angle iron” with a bulge and a cut out with a boss welded on- you will need a longer than standard bolt to go through this boss, btw.
Cheers,
Pete.
Oh, good point Pete. Forgot about that.
That explains why I struggled with mine
The diff is still in place at the moment. I am fitting new mountings to the diff any way. Will I need to disconnect the prop shaft to fit the brace?
No
