dcoe weight for shipping

Good day
Trying to get a package of two carbs, separated to one single carb, sent from the UK.
Shipper claims one carb weighs over 2kg, and can not ship Royal Mail. As we live in a remote region, the normal couriers use a 3ed party. So one looses tracking, which I am not fond of. Also, because of Covid restrictions, I can not travel to my normal parcel box to collect.

Is a single dcoe over 2kg, and if so. How/what would the easiest way be to make three boxes or…? anyone think of anything.
I have asked for the trumpets to be removed, still over weight…ugh

Royal Mail.com

Inter parcel.com

Play with these to see your best option.

I suspect a carb is well over 1 kg and with the bid and packing I can see it being close to 2.

5kg 45x45x25 Is about £45 UPS

Ah, great! Thanks!

Anyone know of a good way to split the carbs to 3 boxes.
Have called the 3ed carriers, but there is not way for tracking. They all say they deliver direct, but it goes to a carrier to here.

Suppose I can use a friend a ways away, simply would rather figure Royal-Canada!

Maybe different for Canada, but repeatedly in 2020 the best quotes and shipping times I’ve gotten (for multiple sizes and weights and in both directions) has been from transglobalexpress.co.uk. Pickup and delivery on the US side has been DHL. In addition to sender making arrangements, I’ve made arrangements as receiver for pickup in UK and delivery here, too. The latter was for a pair of DCOEs that arrived within 3 days of pickup, and if I remember correctly it was FedEx pickup on the UK side. The shipping document indicates 6kg for the pair, though I don’t remember if that was actual weight or one of our estimates.

+1 love Transglobal, shipped my Voght Gearbox UK → USA

Definitely TransGlobal Express.

I have used both ways to/from UK. Tracking, inexpensive, and only takes a few days.

Go online and create an account. You can easily check shipping costs . You need package dimensions and weight. Also pickup / delivery addresses. You can handle all customs paperwork online as well.

I shipped a large, heavy gearbox for $150. Here in a few days. Smaller items $20 or more.

I find the Royal Mail to have spotty service and taking much longer. Especially these days.

Canada post and Royal Mail work great together.
Its too bad, only 2kg. It was 5kg in the past I believe.

Just weighted a 40DCOE31 : 2270g with a banjo fuel intake attached (no trumpet linkage etc), so approx. 2.2kg bare.

Removing all the guts, jets (esp. choke), float, screws and top would probably decrease to weight under 2kg, then one still have to pack…

Thank You kind sir

The weight of the box may still push you over the 2kg limit.

My understanding of the British Postal System is that there are two systems letters and small objects Royal Mail, and larger objects Parcel Force.

I sent some gearbox bits to Canada a couple of years ago, I don’t remember the details but I think it went by Parcel Force.

Hope this helps,

Richard Hawkins

Thank you
It seems they just changed, just after Davos/Trump Covid claim.
Canada has always been about 2kg and under, or large items…Now they are not doing the larger Air items.
Maybe because of air travel being different now…not as many planes etc?

It looks like the best you can do with Transglobal Express for a 6kg parcel (nominal 40x40x20 cm) is a cost of 45 pounds.

From the UK to Kaslo, BC.

2 days or so delivery time.

How does the Royal Mail compare, with your plan of breaking it up into separate boxes and disassembling and reassembling the DCOE’s?

I have a pair of weber out of my car , I made you a pic :
weight is 2.5 kg for one carb

Also for duties/tariffs, most freight forwarders are extremely costly as they use a 3ed carrier here
