Anybody have/purchased a new dashboard from Ayreshire, Scotland. What was the quality like?
Regards
Gerry
I’ve one on order … due in 2-3 weeks.
Will post up the results.
Regards,
Stuart.
Thanks Steve. Look forward to your reply. In the meantime I’ll try some silicon brake as a ploish on the rocker switches to remove oxidation.
Gerry
Steve ?
Regards,
Stuart.
Why not indulge in some proper switch cleaner from an electronic shop.
Stuart, sorry thinking of another S Booth (as in Steve)
Bill, this forum has suggested Silicon Brake fluid as a cleaner to remove oxidised,UV degraded plastic on the outside of the rocker switches.
Have you used electrical contact cleaner for the same purpose to good effect?

Gerry
Dashboard has arrived at last … the supplier has unfortunately been unwell, hence the wait.
It is absolutely superb, but I don’t think flash photography will do it justice, so will post some daylight photos at the weekend.
Get your cheque books ready !!!
Regards,
Stuart.
Aha!. Stuart, thanks for your feedback on this. As you say, cheque books at the ready.
Did the price include stencils (under lacquer topcoat?)
Regards
Gerry
How long did it take to arrive Stuart? I’ve been waiting 3 weeks now and I’m getting a bit twitchy!
Mark
Photos attached … at last !
They do not do it justice. Really.
Because of static from the packaging, there are flecks on the dash.
They are not UNDER the lacquer.
I will suggest that the supplier put their add on elan.net.
They can do all the various dashes.
Mark,
I did post that they had been ill - hence delays.
Gerry,
Decals … yes.
Under lacquer … at least 10 coats !
Regards,
Stuart.
Do you have contact details yourself? I’m assuming that this is the vendor who is currently advertising new dashboards on ebay?
cgi.ebay.co.uk/LOTUS-ELAN-SERIES … 240%3A1318
Has anyone any experience with classic-dash?

Hi Greg
The eBay link is the correct one. I bought one from them for my early Plus 2, and it looks stunning. I also bought one from Paul Matty a few weeks ago for my S2, and that’s super original and looks superb as well. The Paul Matty one was ?200, the one from eBay was ?155.
Don’t know about Classical Dash.
How’s your S2 getting on…have you got the original lamps in yet?
Mark
Hi Mark
Progress has been hampered a bit - I’ll be doing a bigger rebuild than planned in the new year - the wiring loom needed replacing for starters, but I’m getting all the bits together well.
I’ll PM you some more details…
Greg
You seem to have more cost effective options over on your side of the pond. The only dash maker I ever hear about here in the US is Prestige and he starts at $800. Are there other suppliers that I’m not aware of? I’ve put inquiries into both Classical and this ebay supplier to determine the cost to make a federal S4 dash and ship to the east coast (Maryland). Dan
Dan, be careful that they know what a federal dash looks like. The S4 in the UK had two different places for the ignition switch, and there may be other changes for yours. Both Sue Miller / Paul Matty sell LHD dashboards…maybe a safer bet…and send a photo of your existing dash to make sure you’re getting the right one.
Mark
Good advice. I think the differences are left hand drive, hazard switch, no hole for ignition (on column), 3 indicator lights under the oil pressure/water temp gauge (park, ?, brake). Thanks. Dan
For you US-based folks, here’s what I heard back from the ebay seller. Sounds like $252 delivered, which is a good price compared to other US options. The dash is on my list for next year at this time. Currently in the middle of the suspension, so I can’t be the guinea pig until that time. Dan
Hi Dan
only make lhd dashes to order at present but what you are looking for would be no problem- Cost for dash would be teak-?120 Burr walnut or burr elm ?130 postage is expensive at ?48 -at least exchange rate is good for you just now
hope this helps

Just to add (having had great dealings with Margaret) that I’ll bet she’s included insurance in that price.
Since you’re in no hurry, you might consider getting like-minded together snd srrsnging a little bulk purchase to one delivery point, and then ship on from there ?
I’m guessing there’d be a small saving on each dash (irrespective of which version) for a bulk purchase, and a more significant saving on insurance and postage from the UK.

Stuart.
