Lotus fitted coat hangers on the rear 1/4 panals on Fhc’s (a small bracket) and I think some had “LOTUS” on them, now my question is: were these fitted to all fixed heads?
My fhc Sprint does not have any and looks like it never ever had any (no holes) were they fitted to Sprints?
Brian
I cannot report on all, but my '66 Coupe 36/5890 had the coat hooks. These where installed just aft of the interior lights on both sides of the car and screwed into the wood that is glued to the body. Notice I’ve used past tense since I did not reinstall them but may. Mine are plain chrome with no lettering.
My 66 S3 Coupe’ also came with coat hooks, as with Jim, I also did not reinstall them. I do now have a total of three of them an extra one came as part of a batch of parts I acquired. Mine are also smooth, no markings.
But were they coat hooks or static seatbelt hangers ? That is the question.
John,
Well I suppose you could hang anything you want on it but its listed in the Lotus parts list as “coat hook” part no. 036 B 6169 for the Coupe.
Brian
Just to add, my 67 Elan coupe, 36/5785 also came with the coat hooks and screwed into the wood backing, with no lettering.

Mine has the coat hooks, plain chrome, no lettering.
Hi,
I can’t tell you if they are supposed to be there or not, as it’s a +2 I have. What I can add is that CN stock new ones and they also stock the small round Lotus logos to glue onto the coat hooks. If you interested in adding the logo’s that is.

I do also have the coat hooks just aft of the interior lights. Mine are plain chrome with no logo on them.
Jens,
If you have the hooks then your car would be a coupe and I note you say yours is a 66 S2. S1/2’s were roadsters not coupe’s, the fhc only came with the S3/4’s unless you have a hardtop fitted?
Brian.
