Anybody got a chrome/ aluminium side strip for and elan +2 or can any body suggest where i can get on.
YHM
Not sure what you mean by the Chrome side strip. Are you referring to the rain rail that goes above the door? If so I have both sides

No luck yet , I thought it was chrome or aluminium but its stainless steel, does anybody know somebody thats breaking a +2 that may have one of these pieces of trim…
Thanks
John
Probably not what you are looking for but Woolies show a chrome strip

John,
I found a piece of SS trim but I am not sure it is from my Lotus (took it apart 25 years ago) and also took a part a VW Rabbit. Not sure which it is from. If you or anyone else has a picture or dimensions I will check it out when I get back after the 4th of July.
Just post the picture here and I check it out.

Hi smokey,
That would be great, I Don`t have a photograph just now but the dimensions are 1" wide x 68" long, one edge is rounded and one kind of tapers in.
Thanks for your help
John
John,
I assume that you mean the strip that runs along the sills. They come up on Ebay from time to time as people break +2s for spare,
Mike
John,
What you describe is not what I have - sorry - must be from the VW

hi .
i am also looking for a side strip in stainless steel for my elan +2
that sits on top of the door flush with the bottom of the glass
i require the nearside strip if anyone out there can help…
Hi. I bought a set of the clips that hold the strips in place from Matty. From what they were saying there are two types. I don’t know whether they had any of the actual strips in stock though.
Regards.
Sean.
thanks for the reply sean.
i have located the strip that i needed but had to buy the pair .
which is fair enought .
they came from a salvage yard from a elan +2 that is burnt out on the front end
car is on ebay at present
prices are fair and still got lots of parts available…
Plus two looks so much better without the sill mouldings in my opinion. add lightness as well
cheers
Robin
the stainless steel strips go along the tops of the door…
as for along the sills dont you think that all those screw heads need covering .
any suggestions ??
i have a offside strip available [that is right hand side looking from behind the steering wheel]
?30 +postage [which is exactly what it cost me]
I think that the sill strip that Robin was refering to goes just under the door along the top of the sill, not at the very bottom of the body covering the screw heads. To hide these most people paint the and screws matt black.
Ta,
Chris
does anyone out there think that there must be some neater way of finishing that bottom edge…
anyone seen an elan +2 with a finished chrome or similar edge .
they look like a good fix for the bottom edge
can you tell me where the strip came from craig…
regards alan
Unfortunately no - best to see if the original poster is still around. I have a vague recollection of him saying they’d used the original stainless steel side trim but just fixed it on lower.
Craig
Hi
I was wondering if these ss sill strips are now available somewhere?
Thanks
