Cheap Sprint?

This looks cheap, could be a bargain for someone.

Thanks, I have just bought it!!! Long drive to get it back to Devon though!

My understanding is that the Pistachio Green Sprints were so unpopular, Lotus produced only 6 of them. Because of their rarity, these cars are now very valuable.

Sorry Frank, but I just don’t think that that observation will help poor Jon’s frame of mind at all. :open_mouth:

Is it as nice as it looks in the pictures? Or did you buy it over the phone?

Hi, I did some homework on this car, and for your information it is not a DHC, it has a FHC chassis number and the colour has been changed from previous white, it has had 7 owners so I doubt it is unrestored and as original as the seller claims. I fould this out by doing an HPi check on the car. Always worth doing. The chassis number ends in E for fixed head see link lotuselansprint.com/index.asp?pageid=41847. still looks cheap but thought I would share this information.

It was also obvious from the photo that it’s been resprayed at some stage as the ‘lip’ beneath the sills is white whereas it should be black.

Still cheap though for what looks like a nice car!

Aye, but he ain’t selling it (see thread in ‘Elans’)

Frank

From my records I have 9 FHC and 48 DHC Sprints in Pistachio Green, original paint as they left the factory. There are more, it’s just that we don’t have the records for them, as they were destroyed by a flood at Hethel.

Can you let me have the VIN for the Sprint for my records, please?

Tim

Tim,

My information came from Kenny Mance who owns a pistachio green/white DHC Sprint along with a red/white DHC Sprint, an S2 and a +2. Kenny took the pistachio one to a LOG and his car was chosen as best of show by the guest speaker who’s name I can’t recall however he was an important former Lotus employee. Someone like Graham Arnold. He told Kenny that his was one of only 6. Perhaps he meant that only 6 DHCs had been sent to the US. I have Kenny’s email address however I’d have to get his permission to pass it along.

Of course it was cheap- it was advertised as having the “big value” engine. :smiling_imp:
