is a chassis nr 500219 M the correct one for a Lotus Elan Plus 2 S/ 130

I think not - 50/0219 would be an early car from late 1967, not a +2S 130, however M after means export model (not USA) which according to a book I have the M was not used until after January 1970.

the chassis no for a post 1970 car would be in the series 70.01.01.0001 series

eg 72.01.01.0078 M would be a 72 car from January(01) batch 1 chassis 78 M for export
