Looking into having my exhaust manifold ceramic coated can any body recomend a company in the uk to do this process.

To spray the manifold you only need a small airbrush/touch up gun.

Thanks for the information looked at the two companys websites the process and results seem very impressive as i understand the technical imformation camcoat is a ceramic reinforced paint process and zircrotec is a ceramic coating which can only be applied on the outside where as the camcoat can be applied on the inside and outside .
Before i proceed in taking the exhaust manifold of the car whats the approx price for a tubular exhaust manifold and y piece for a +2 .

Just a note for comparison. I had the header on my Exige S coated on the inside with the same ceramic that is used on combustion chambers and piston tops, with the outside in a standard header silver looking coating. Cost was $100US. The temperature was reduced DRAMATICALLY. On the Elan this should result in longer engine mount life and a much cooler footwell. I am going to use the same coating on my Elan header as soon as I choose one for purchase. Most definitely recommended.

I spoke to the guys at Zircotec a few weeks ago and it was my understanding that the process coated both inside and out. The manifold can be new or used as they shot blast beforehand. Their main concern was that the pipes should be in good condition, and not liable to be perforated by the shot blasting process. They gave a budget cost for the three part manifold of 260-300GBP for the basic process with a further 35GBP for a colour coat. All plus 15% tax. They believe their process is unique and have financed independant testing by MIRA to back up their claims.
They came across well on the telephone and I am mighty tempted.
Reassuringly expensive…

Looks fantastic but v. expensive. Has anyone tried the DIY wrap around tape type coatings to reduce the underbonnet temperatures?
Any experiences, recommendations (or warnings!) would be welcome.

Did you run the car in standard form to get a feel for how much difference the treatment made to the heat and noise?
Do you know which products you used, I’ve not seen a DIY ceramic coating but I haven’t looked too hard yet.

I also put a heat reflective and insulating coating on the bulkhead around the exhaust area.
My wife says her feet do not get as hot now and the exhaust side engine mount appears to be lasting better so I can say that it is definitely working.
