CARNIVAL RED/CALYPSO RED ANY DIFFERENCE??

Hi

Are these two colours the same or very similar?

Thanks

both are red

They are very similar, but you wouldn’t have Calypso on an Elan…it was used on the later cars, the Esprit and M100 Elan.

Carnival was used from about October '67 to the end of Elan production. Prior to that, it would probably have been Carman Red…same as the E Type.

I1ve seen 2 S4`s both ment to be "carnival red " side by side and you would think they were different colours

Thanks guys, painter struggling to find the “recipe” for Carnival Red and wanted to paint it Calypso.

Does anyone have the correct mix??

These are the paint codes:

Pinchin & Johnson: PJ 6170X5350
ICI Paints : ICI P0308385
PPG Paint Systems: PPG LOT0388
Glasurit : GLA L05

Are you sure you have the right bloke to paint the car??!!

Hi Gents

Thanks for that, now sorted.

There was also “Ford Monaco Red” which first appeared on the S3 coupe.
(See early parts list.) Don’t know how long it stayed around but it is a little bit more of a mid red than say “Carnival Red”. It is not that bright a red but it looks very “Period” and it was the original colour on my S3 coupe. I am going to keep it the same colour when it is painted and am going through the process of sorting out the paint at the moment.

I seem to remember that Carmen Red (a Jaguar colour) was used on the S1 & S2 cars.
