Asian Elan

Hi all,

We’ll be off to Iceland soon for a HERO regularity rally. Before we go we thought you might like to hear about our trip in March from Kuala Lumpur to Hanoi. The website is www.tigerrally.co.uk.

I attach our report which will appear in the next edition of Club Lotus News and in USA in British Marques (not sure which edition). We also had a two page spread in the September Classic and Sports Cars.

Oh my… what a great story, so envious… one day…

Alison, Were off to India to "rally" in Hindustan Ambassadors in Sept. so wont be in Iceland. But, Phil and Yvonne in the XK120, Rodger and Tony in the Healey and Jo and Dave in the TR will. You could say “from the north? then you must know Jim and Carole in the red Elan”. How amusing that would be, Jim

I like the comment at the end of the article “This had been a very gentle rally”!!

I enjoyed the article in Classic and Sportscar this month - I don’t always buy it but after leafing through and spotting the Elan article the magazine was in my shopping basket.

Hi Allison,

I did read the C&SC article and enjoyed it very much.
You are a brave lot with an accident just before the rally and churning out a new car in no time at all and than drive that thousands on miles through rough “country side”. To put it into perspective, my wife already squirms and bickers when my Sprint’s exhaust pipe gently scrapes over a speed bump at 10MPH

I read the C&SC piece, very entertaining but did you really fit “+2 suspension”? No wonder your wheels stuck out. :smiling_imp:
I’m guessing that you fitted +2 (i.e. Triumph GT6) suspension uprights, rather than all the other “longer” bits.
