At this time of year I make a contribution to the running of elan.net . This year however, I cannot log in to make my contribution. I can’t remember what I did in previous years. I am pretty sure my password has not changed. Please advise me how to proceed.
For one reason or another I haven’t done many miles over the past year, perhaps 1,000. Most of my Elan projects seem to have involved going backwards or, at best, sideways. In keeping with the rest of 2016, I suppose.
But I did get into the September edition of Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car magazine. Taken at the British Motorcar Festival in Bristol, Rhode Island in June. I wasn’t even aware until a friend told me about it.
I still need help. I don’t have a pay pal account, I use my credit card. As you say, I must be logged in because I can post.
I go to the home page, click donate, which takes me to a screen that shows my email address, and asks me for my password. I enter my password, which is followed by an error message asking me t check email and password. I cannot get past this point
There seems to be something wrong with the Donate button on the HOME page; use the one at the very bottom of any forum topic page. It then gives you a screen like this with the Creditcard entry on the left hand side.
Oh now that is weird; the screen capture is also missing the Credit Card column and now the button at bottom of this page doesn’t show the CC stuff… Help Jeff, what is going on?
Actually Richard, even though it does not immediately show the Credit Card entry info, you can see on the screenshot above, there is a link called CONTINUE on the line above the CC logos; this leads to the CC entry page.
If you are not seeing a page like the screenshot above, there is a real possibility that your router has been hacked into and a fake entry inserted to a rogue DNS server.
There are other ways too, instead of hacking into the router, of infecting your computer (or smart phone) with a rogue DNS entry.
When you click the donate button, you are taken to PayPal. If you have a paypal account you can login. If you don’t have a paypal account, there is an option to donate, but is usually lower on the page. Look for the heading for of nor having a PayPal account.
On seeing these messages, I have recently contributed to Jeff’s running costs for this site, but also yesterday I sent a similar amount to help support Wikipedia.
I really applaud the way the owners of Wikipedia have kept it as a non-profit system and avoided loading it with adverts etc which would possibly destroy its impartiality.
So if you use Wikipedia, I suggest you send a donation to them too.
Thanks for the reminder, just sent in a contribution.
Haven’t been able to drive or work on my Elan much this calendar year, but I’m always checking in on the forum to try to continue to learn as much as I can.
