Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if my +2s130 calipers are the same as triumph GT6 MkIII or MkII or are they only common with TR6 items?
are they girling type PB16 (16PB)?
Cheers
Tim
AFAIK the caliper is a Girling P16 as used on Triumph GT6 and others.
Hi just took the caliper off and checked…
They’re 16PB,
Which is late GT6 MkIII and TR6…
So checking price >100pounds paul Matty, 40 pounds local triumph specailist…
Know which one I’m choosing, almost cheap than rebuild kit and two pistons
Tim
Hi Tim,
You could have P16 or 16PB as the 16PB was used as a service exchange unit. The main difference is the improved rubber boot which is held on with a wire clip.
According to my book the 16PB was fitted from chassis number 1857 (1969 - 1971) but this could so easily be wrong.
The Triumph GT6 Mk111 from 1972 on was fitted with the M16
The Triumph GT6 Mk11 from August 1968 - 1970 on was fitted with the 16PB
Similar story for the TR6.
So yes they are the same and will fit, but calipers for Escort/Cortina will not
Regards
Steve
Tim, Is that 40 quid for a rebuilt caliper?
If so are they replated or just painted?
Tim, according to Girling catalogue caliper nos:64032288 & 9 were for +2 1969-72. From 72 they changed to 64033685 & 6. I presume this is when they went to metric threads ? Lotus used the 64033685 & 6 caliper on the Eclat too. Triumph are listed as follows: GT6 from 1966-March 72 - 64032288 & 9, GT6 April 72- Sep 72 - 64033685 & 6.
TR4A, TR5 & 2.5L TR6 - 64032288 & 9 '66- Mar 72, TR6 April 72>
64033685 & 6.
The 64032288 & 9 also used on Rover 2000 '66-72, Austin 1800 landcrab
May 65 - Sep 72. And some 60’s Fords… rgds john
As to the quality of the rebuilt calipers, I’lllet you know when I get them
Tim
Calipers are plated and 40 quid inc VAT…
Look good
(from Canley Classics…)
Tim
Classicar automotive were at Donington. Front calipers are ?45 +vat exchange or ?65 if you don’t have one to exchange. They are plated and look just like new. I bought one.
Chris
Saw them when I was there…
Theirs look more shiney than the one I have…
Canley also do “brand new” for 100 quid…
