Hello All,

Next stage of my 1971 130S restoration is the heater.

What is the current thinking on a compatible matrix? I have seen Fiestas and MK1 Escorts mentioned but the measurements seem to be a fair bit out compared to mine which is 275mm long, 55mm deep 153mm tall (excluding pipes).

What are people using for the replacement rubber sealing strips and heater door foam?

Hi

I have done this a few times before and use the early Fiests one. Usually from Ebay. Its a bit shorter and thinner, but works just fine. On the last one I also also fitted the electric matrix from a MK7 Fiesta below it, but thats another story so to speak. There is a thread on this somewhere on the forum.

Thanks Bernie, can I ask what material you packed the gap that was left from the smaller matrix?

I think it was an appropriately shaped piece of wood and silicone sealer.

I may have a photo, that’s if I can find it that is……

Thanks, photo would be ideal but I think I get the idea.

I used a piece of bicycle inner tube for the rubber seals and some foam underlay for laminate flooring for the door foam.

Hi There

On the the page linked to below there are pictures of my matrix arrangement. It looks like I may have used some hard solid plastic along with the silicone sealant instead of wood in this case.
