If it is an S2 (and the rear lights indicate so), it can’t be from 1964. What’s the chassis number ?
Interesting. The car has the lower dash trim of an S3, and what looks to be an S3 dash, but interior door handles look to be S1. S1-S2 style radiator, and an early die cast cylinder head. Arm rest panels are missing. Would be instructive to see inside the boot and under the car.
previous owner told me its an S1/S2… he said it was late S1 and there were some S2 parts used, like the tail lights etc.
I also removed the arm rest door panels and its a custom door panel that I made.
Rear lights are S3…
live & learn!
It appears to have slightly flared wheel arches, certainly not standard, so it may be on wider rims. Also has an alternator so perhaps is -ve earth too. S2 Elans, like mine, left the factory before Nov 1964 and didn’t have Vauxhall rear lamps. This was probably a private export as it is RHD and there are lots of other non-standard items, like the radiator top and is that an oil radiator in front of it? Dash is basically S2 with an ash tray but door panels are home-made.
It is a bit pricey for a non-original car but perhaps that’s the way we’re going.
I like the possibilities!
It is most likely a Series 1 1/2 which had many of the S1 parts part was a transition before the S2 and has many of the S2 parts also such as the taillights.
Obviously has 26R flares installed and bumpers. Lots of mods.
For my info, do you have any pics of the frame, suspension, etc. Any frame rust? or Repairs?
Do you still have all the door parts such as the arm rests, the chrome trip, etc?
Does it come with the Tonneau Cover?
Does it come with the Soft Top and Bows?
Any trunk pics?
Do you still have the original seats?
Does it have a hard top?
The paint and color look great in the pics depicted. Is the paint that nice up close or are there any cracks, stress cracks, etc?
Do you know if there have been any mods to the engine?
Any idea what rear end is in it?
Does it still have the donuts?
Thank you,
